A1 Learning

Reading

Reading is well under way with children working in small groups.  Please remember to sign their reading logs when they read to you each night.  This is part of the motivation and encouragement they need to keep trying to become better readers.  Our children are encouraged to bring their book bags to school each day.

Mathematics

The children are learning to solve maths problems using different strategies.  They are learning to work with a buddy, share their ideas and record this for group sharing with the teacher and other learning buddies.  Here some images of MIC in action...

Awards at Assembly

The hard workers for the week get rewarded with certificates for assembly.  Room A1 children already know that they need to work hard to earn awards during school assemblies.  Here are the winners for last Friday.

Swimming

A reminder please that swimming is on every Thursday.

Thank you to the parents that prepared their children last week.  Here are a few images from our first swimming session where they are working with qualified swimming instructors in the pool.

Meet the Teacher Evening...

Please remember to pop into school and ask me any questions you would like about your child's learning during our meet the teacher evening.

This evening will take place on Thursday 15th of February from 5 till 7pm.

I am looking forward to meeting you all.

We are Year 2 and Year 3 learners in A1.

We belong in the A1 learning community.

Our learning success will happen when we all work together as a team at school and with our families at home.

Important Notes for the term

Stationery for learning

Thank you to all of you who have sorted out your children's stationery.  We will begin using the children's books in week 3.  This is next week.

Please be aware that you order your stationery through Office Max.  You would have received a text message about these already from the school office.

It is very important that the children have the stationery outlined on their specific year level list from school and remember, when the order has been received, send everything to school.

Hats

It is great to see children in their summer uniforms already.

There are a small number of children that miss out on their playing time outside at morning tea and lunch times because they do not have a hat to wear in the hot sun.  It is a school rule that children wear a hat during terms 1 and 4.  Your child can wear their hat from last term.  If there is a need for a new hat, you can purchase one from the school office.  If you choose to purchase from a different place, ensure that your child has a navy blue bucket hat preferably labelled with their names and class.

Water Bottles

Water is a needed necessity in all our lives.  Children in A1 are encouraged to bring a water bottle into the classroom.  In this way, they can access water without missing out on the learning over the school day.

Kia Ora, Talofa Lava, Malo e Lelei, Kia Orana and Greetings to you all.

Welcome to A1's learning page for 2018.  Room A1 has Year 2 and Year 3 students and I am very much looking forward to a great year of learning with them.

I will share evidence of our learning through this blog.  At any time you wish, feel free to come in and see me if you have questions about your child's learning progress in the classroom.

Thank you and God Bless,
Miss Tonga
