Reading for our Read-a-thon competition

Thank you to the families of the students who are supporting and encouraging them to read each day at home.  I appreciate the time you put into this as I can see really supportive comments in the student's reading logs.

We are almost half way through this journey.  Thank you for helping me to increase their love of reading.

Speeches

All students in A1 are reminded that they will need to complete their speeches with their parents by week 5.  We will begin having our class speeches during week 5 in preparation for choosing winners to go on to represent A1 in our speech finals in week 6.  I will send out more information about week 6 soon.

*Students were given information about what they could write their speeches on.  The topic was their favourite animal.  The speech can be anything about their favourite animal or pet at home to make things easier.  Students can talk about anything to do with their chosen animal.

Read-a-thon update

***Thank you to all my 12 parents who have helped to read with and sign or commented on your children's reading logs.

-I am a little disappointed as there are 23 children in the class and only 12 parents are making an effort for their children today.  I am hoping that the result will improve tomorrow.  If you are busy as parents, your child can read with their older siblings and that still counts.

-Our reading competition is suppose to encourage children to read with help from home.  It only takes up to 10 minutes to do the reading.  Help me to help your child as you are first teachers of their learning at home.

-Please ask your children to remember they have a responsibility to bring their book bags to school every day to prove to me that they have been reading at home.

-Just a reminder again, this competition lasts for 50 whole days.
