Week 5 - Term 2

*Samoan Language Week

-Create a birthday card for the next person in your family who is having a birthday.  Use some of the Samoan greetings you have learnt over the week.
-Learn to ask a buddy - (What is your name?) in Samoan
                                    - (My name is...) in Samoan before saying your own name.


*Spelling

-Organise your week 5 spelling list into your notebook
-Complete your spelling activity for week 5 and glue into your poem book
-Test a buddy on their spelling list for the week.


*Writing

-Write to explain how you can be successful in your learning at school.
   -Check your work, see if it makes sense
   -Check if you have used WOW words
   -Choose your goals from the writing walls and place these on your pencils
   -Circle the things you have done to show you are successful at your goal
   -Read your work one more time to see if it makes sense
-Ask a buddy to proof read your work


*Reading

-Choose a story from your bookbox to read
-Read a story to your reading buddy and make sure you take turns to do this
-Find a character from your story and tell me everything you can about him or her.
   -Draw this character
   -Say why you chose this character

*Maths

-Practise skip counting with a buddy - count in 2s, 5s, 10s to 100
-Practise counting backwards with your buddy from 20 - 1, from 50 - 1 and from 100 - 0 in 2s, 5s and 10s.
-Use the numberline to solve number equations:
14 + 8
20 + 9
11 + 8
29 - 8
34 - 12
99 - 10
-Make up 5 of  your own number equations for a buddy to solve


2nd week of the Holidays - 23rd April 2018

Hello everyone.  I hope you have enjoyed the first week of your holidays.

I would like you to find five to ten minutes each day this week to practise the following activities please.  It will help you with your work when we start school in Term 2. 


*Practise your skip counting in 2s, 5s, 10s to 100
*Practise your pluses and take aways like 2 + 2 =, 4 + 5 =, 9 - 3 =, 12 - 9 =,


*Read a book each day and record 3 big words you have learnt.


*Practise spelling these words so that you are ready for our spelling test on your first day back at school:
**I, like, going, is, mum, look, the, am, said, to, at, went, in, me, here, my, on, dad, a, and, come, up, can, sat, for
 **we, get, put, with, go, no, they, today, was, where, you, she, he, this, are, will, as, too, not, but, likes, down, big, it, little, see, so, looked

*Write a story about the  best thing you have done in your holidays.  Do this at the end of the holidays.

Good morning class.  I am testing our reading and maths today.  You will have a buddy to help you complete these learning activities

Reading

*Read your favourite story

-In your reading book, write today's date
-Write the title of the book
-Draw your favourite character 
-Write a sentence about your favourite character
-Write three sentences to say what the story was about.

*Read two stories from sunshineonline and complete the activities - one story must be at your reading level, the other should be at your buddy's reading level.

Writing

*Explanation

-Explain why we need rules in our classroom
-In your writing book
-Write today's date
-Add your dot, no dot lines
-Draw your reasons for why we need rules in our classroom
-Write about your reasons.  Remember you write in sentences
-Proof read your work and underline words you need help with
-Check your work: Have you completed everything from your success criteria list?
-Get 3 buddies to read your work and check it makes sense to them

Maths

*Basic facts

-Practise your pluses and take aways with a buddy

*Shapes

-Draw these shapes on a piece of A4 paper and add colour
-Square, Rectangle, Circle, Triangle, Hexagon
-Write the names of each shape under each of your pictures.  Make sure it is the right name for the right shape


Religious Education

-Write a prayer to say thank you to Jesus for all his love for you and your family.

-Doing good things for other people
-Who can you be kind to for the rest of this week?
